Salve avevo notato che è uscito l'update del portage a 2007, nei profili da selezionare ho il "Q2-2007"
mi sa che ho fatto qualche casino perche ogni volta che certo di installare qualche pacchetto mi da

!!! ARCH is not set... Are you missing the '/etc/make.profile' symlink?
!!! Is the symlink correct? Is your portage tree complete?

ma poi non ho capito bene una cosa (finisce cosi') |

D: Cos'è un profilo?
R: Vedi qua (paragrafo "Informazioni specifiche sul profilo")
Nel tuo caso il collegamento simbolico /etc/make.profile era mancante o errato, e con lo strumento eselect lo hai impostato correttamente (ti consiglio di passare al sotto-profilo "desktop", contiene diverse impostazioni predefinite per un utilizzo, appunto, "desktop").

Però bisogna stare un pò attenti alle variazioni nelle flag USE predefinite, probabile che Portage voglia ricompilare certi pacchetti a causa di nuove abilitazioni/disabilitazioni di USE; meglio agire opportunamente su /etc/make.conf e/o /etc/portage/package.use/*

come volevasi dimostrare muovi muovi ho fatto un casino 
con questo ho colto l'occasione di rifare tutto (cosi' imparo un'altro po' su gentoo)
ma ora mi è comparsa dopop aver eseguito
