fluxbox/xserver problem

I emerged fluxbox and xorg-x11 like I was suppose to in a tutorial but nothing happens when I type "startx". The only thing I get is a black background with the letter x for my cursor when I'm logged in as root. When I'm logged in under a normal user as soon as I type startx everything crashes and I end back up in command line. How can I fix this?

Nevermind I figured it out. =]
Just had to run Xorg -configure.
