I'm trying to make a back-up of a foreign language dvd on a single layer disk.
It's only ~130 mb's over the size limit, and I can reduce it by more than 4 times that amount by removing the english dubbed audio track.

I've ripped the video, native language audio and english subtitles to three different files, but upon muxing them again the subtitles are way out of sync, and they look horrible compared to the original.

Is there any way to mux the ps1 (subtitle stream ripped directly from the title, typically referred to as "vobsub" format I think) back without converting it to something else with something like subtitleripper first?

Or better yet, is there any way to simply remove one audio track from an mpeg stream without having to split it up completely and then remux the components you want?

I've been messing with this all day, and can't find any way to do this.
I'd even settle for using a freeware windows utility if it's the only option, but there must be a way to mux a vobsub stream directly with the video/audio components.

Thanks for any help/suggestions.

k9copy does all that with no hassles (pick and choose audio,
pick and choose subtitles, set compression rate, make a dvd
iso or shrink to an avi file ... great app)

That seems similar to the apps I tried, such as dvdshrink and dvd95.

The site doesn't suggest it supports exactly what I'm looking for, however it does have another feature which I was after and didn't see elsewhere: re-using the original menus.

I'll take a closer look, thanks a lot for pointing it out.

P.S. I love your avatar. :D
