hmm.. i LOVED the thing .. i saw it on a friend's creenshot .. was awsome,
but i am having a couple of problems ...
i always get the linux logo.
even when i change that in the kernel config.
well my grub.conf looks just fine ..
i dunno what's wrong actually ..
and YES i HAVE mounted the /boot before linking .. blabla ...
thx for helping already...
btw i use the vanilla-sources

Hello everybody,
I followed all instructions but I get Tux at boot 
I'm using ck6 kernel sources.
I patched the kernel with bootsplash-3.0.7-2.4.20-vanilla.diff, enabled ramdisk with initial ramdisk support of 4096, loopback device support, checked bootsplash instead of boot logo, selected compiled-in fonts vga8x16, selected vesa vga graphic console... 
I emerged bootsplash
I donwloaded and installed fbmngplay-0.5a.tar.bz2, scripts.tar.bz2
I have SuSe theme installed at /etc/bootsplash/themes/SuSE-8.2
I create initrd.splash file in /boot partition : splash -s -f /etc/bootsplash/themes/SuSE-8.2/config/bootsplash-1024x768.cfg > /boot/initrd.splash
my lilo.conf :
