Genkernel -3.4.8

My kernel source 2.6.20-gentoo-r8 Genkernel-3.4.8 Cpio-2.7-r2

Tried running genkernel --dmraid --menuconfig all. Kernel is made,with initramfs file but will not boot. I get a non-valid root device error. Tried this several times with same result.
Tried manual configuration using xconfig and used genkernel to build initrd. Boots okay.
I wonder if there is an error in the genkernel script that should be reported?

Did you make the necessary modifications to your bootloader to provide necessary arguments?
