Are we talking about a AudioCD?
you can't mount them at all, media players should be able to play them unmounted.

I had a similar problem when trying to play CDs in audacious. Audio CDs do not need to be mounted, as they do not have a 'filesystem' as such. If Audacious isn't recognising it, open the Audacious menu, go to Preferences, then Plugins. Make sure the CD Audio plugin is selected and click on Preferences to open up its settings dialog. Make sure the device is set to the correct path (directory shouldn't matter) and make sure Digital Audio Extraction is selected. Finally, click Check Drive and the CD should be found and it should play fine when you click Alt+C in Audacious. Most of the time, all the settings are fine already and you just need to go to the preferences and click Check Drive for it to find the Audio CD.

Hope this helps!
