Ive a cirrus logic 1MB video card on my server, and I want to run at 800x600 resolution at least so that I can see the back and next buttons on dialogues in KDE. There are no onboard video disabling jumpers so even if i plug a new pci card in and the system is using it Linux will still detect my old card and it causes conflicts. I know X can have a virtual desktop that can be scrolled that is larger than the base screen resolution. My question is how can I enable this feature as a workaround for my video cards small memory size enabling me to see more screen?
Thanks in advance. |

I thought it was going to work and posted, I went to try that just now and changed my mode lines to "640x480@1024x768" all of them to be sure, when I startx it loads up into a 640x480 desktop no matter what I do.
Perhaps there is some other setting I need enabled? Using Gentoo LiveCD 2007.0. |
