Here's what you should do:

DON'T USE THE GUI INSTALL.

It's a piece of crap.

Open up a terminal, open up the install guide, and install.

If you are starting your 'nix experience with gentoo, please be prepared to install via CLI opposed to the gui installer. First of all you will gain valuable knowledge as to how linux is working as well as being in complete control of your install. I'm not trying to sound rude when i say this, but you may wish to install a different distro for your first experience. Ubuntu is great to toy with, especially if you want a easy simple gui installer. If you wish to begin your linux voyage on gentoo, I wish you luck and the community will be here to help. Just be ready for lots of reading of the manual and lots of patience. Welcome
