successful install yeah! but I can't log in-I'm not root?

I've searched the forum and tried some suggestions such as code: #usermod -G users wheel username
and ctrl+alt+f11, alt+f2. I don't think these apply to me. When I am in grub I can see my username as an option(tab lists options). I am wondering if I can become root from some command in grub or something else. Thanks for the help, everyone!

chroot into your instalation, and then do a passwd command... Refer to the handbook on how to chroot...
