Opposite of this person, I would like to turn of the script-starting icons on the 2007.0 livecd splash theme. I honestly find them a little pointless, since most of my initscripts don't have icons, and would rather just have the progress bar in the background filling up instead. I'm really uncertain of how to do this, and am a little wary of spending the time and effort of playing with the kernel options (since each option change requires a reboot - which is fast, but not that fast). If there's an easy way to do this that anyone knows of, please tell me.

Disable the mng USE flag while compiling splashutils.
