I emerged thunar - I like it, kinda but still under "Places" menu - for example there is "Home Folder" and choosing it
brings up this default file manager - how can I change this?

emerge gconf-editor
This is a little gui app which will let you change the configs for numerous gnome settings look for entries which say nautlis and change to thunar |

do you mean something completly different ie not use nautilus, or change its behaviour
if you want to get rid of nautilus out of luck, nautilus is integral to gnome _________________

Thanks - it worked but only partially - I noticed that there are some drive icons on desktop but these were
on gconf-editor under apps/nautilus - I don't have apps/thunar there where I could set respective values
I also can't change Places-Home Folder to start with Thunar - whereas Places-Desktop starts with it now... |

Actually I am not sure what I want
I just know that in Ubuntu or so the file manager with gnome looks different. I don't like
the way how nautilus always opens a new window if I navigate to different folder. Thunar seems to be more
like the one I'd like to use - from interface - navigate with back and forth arrows and so on...the problem is
that in many of the ready icons it just always opens nautilus... |

Damn you're right - it was actually nautilus I was so used in Ubuntu - just a bit pimped with
settings but all the same - thanx - now I am back on familiar appearance again... |
