hmm list is outdated since 0.9.38 is out...
you could delete all not tested in 0.9.38 or move them to "outdated" section. |

Ouch your right . I gonna think how to solve this problem. For now I think it might be best to change the title to soemthing like:
How to get your Windows games working
or
Please submit your working game to the Wine appdbd
Maybe it's better to start a new thread with one of the aforementioned headers focusing to provide a short howto get games working in Gentoo under Wine a link to the AppDB so that they find if their game is working and asking them to add games to the AppDB.
Let me know what you think. _________________ Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved. Help answer the unanswered |

version 0.9.38 is finally added to Wine bugzilla version list so it's shown also in Wine appdb....
and no need for short HOWTO for "Getting games working in Wine"... it's all documented in winehq and if it's not
then it's basicly crappy distribution or broken system or bad system settings. |

I'm having some problems with cursor input with Desperados: Wanted dead or Alive
Anyone tried this yet?
Supposedly there's a cursor patch for Wine, but
1 - I can't find the latest one, it kinda disappeared from WineHQ.
2 - Applying the one I found breaks the Wine versions I tried
Any tips? |

Your best bet would be to leave your add your Test Results to the AppDB and file a bugreport to winehq bugzilla: http://bugs.winehq.org/ _________________ Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved. Help answer the unanswered |

I managed to make it work Correct "patch" here:
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7838
Made a custom ebuild with the additional patch, and the mouse is now working
But now I have other issues Mouse is invisible during actual gameplay haha. Filed 2 bugs @ Wine bugzilla. |

And as tip (I don't know if it's already mentioned):
Max Payne.
A bit short, but a nice story. |

Max Payne 1&2 and Return to Castle Wolfenstein work - and both flawlessly. RtCW will mock about some color depth at startup - just click OK, as usual when a Windows Proggie reports errors
Currently working on getting Civ 4 to run. People say it runs in Cedega, but I doubt that, because the only positive results i've read were in the domain transgaming.com or cedega.com
Anyone had results with Civ4? You will need some proprietary DX9 libs... _________________ Error compiling committee.c: too many arguments to function. |

hi again Aniruddha, did colin mcrae 4 work fine for you??
the screen goes out boundaries, like if it was in half screen mode, ignoring that specific the game seems to run perfectly, say something about fixme:x11, drv blah blah on and so on...
but I cannot play it (~#@ ) seem that's handling display output incorrectly
do you know any workaround for this?... maybe a patch?

Ok let me see, which version of Wine do you have? Can you post your xorg.conf? Oh and don't forget to add your test results to the appdb _________________ Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved. Help answer the unanswered |

sure
Code: | gentoo ~ $ wine --version
wine-0.9.39
|
I tried version 0.9.41 and 0.9.42, should I downgrade to 0.9.37, do I need to install some microsoxs libraries the game starts and everything else as well starts the cursor, etc... but the display is tore down, (half screen only). Seems like a wine bug to me, do you have a special setup for wine, i.e freetype version. xorg-server version, that works best? Did you tried the game or just installed it, because seems to me that this game needs a lot of microsoxs libraries, prompts out for everything; I've just hit cancel, I don't want loads of unidentifiable cr4pp, , gone well installled, even cancelling loads of cr4pp,
Anyways don't worry that much I realized that I don't want and Arcade SpyGuy, and the older version it's more fun
tnxs again !!
about the results maybe I help out, with the older version, I 've already registered, I 've just deleted the wine installation of '04 , if not I would have post a screenshot

I actually played the game. I am installing colin mcrae 4 right now (with wine 0.9.35 which I use for compatibility with Prey). I'll let you know.
Update
Ok, Colin Mcrea runs fine here. I also emptied the .wine/drive_c/windows/system32 to see if there weren't any dll's that CM4 needs to run I will now install the latest Wine to see if the results differ.
Update 2
Works fine with Wine 0.9.42 to _________________ Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved. Help answer the unanswered |
