for some reason when i go to play a song off my ipod with gtkpod it says cannot find the command 'xmms' specified for 'play now' is there a way to fix this?

there is a place to change it the command is set as...xmms should it be different?

Yes you would change it to whatever your media player is. What do you use to listen to music on your computer?

i use audacious i set it in the prefrences and when i go to open the music the media player opens but it doesnt play the music, its like i fix one problem just to reveal another one lol

Check out the man page for audacious and see if there is a command specifically for playing a track. Maybe

You should be able to set the Command for 'Play now': to audacious %s. Adding the -e switch to that will enqueue a track. The %s tells gtkpod to send the selected file as the object of the audacious command.

The reason xmms doesn't work is that it is no longer in portage. It's a big can of worms, so if you want to know why or what to do about it, use the forum search function.
