|
|
I've recompiled my kernel many, many times. Often with utter success. However, I here lots of talk of "mm patches" and "alan cox (ac) patches".
These kernels are more bleeding edge than mine, and I must have them. .
So, is there anyone out there that can give a synopsis of 1) What these patches are and do.
and more importantly
2) Where do I find these patches, and after I've downloaded them, how do I apply them? Must I apply the patches in order (I.E. apply mm1 before mm2, then mm3, etc .... or can i just install the latest patch and get the changes retroactively)?
Thanks for any help you can give,

wow didn't even have to do a forum search for this one. It's like someone was thinking my exact thoughts and did what I was going to. Thanks for that xtrecate and thanks lovechild for the solution
My mission for tonight. To get 2.5.69 running succesfully. This might be an interesting night

remember that module-init-tools is needed for 2.5 kernels.
the mm patchset by andrew morton adds some cool things like the cfq and anticipatory schedulers, as well as other fixes. Also each mm release gives you the latest bk so you get all the official stuff thats been done since the last major release. (so if you get 2.5.69-mm9, you get the all the current mm patches, plus you get all the offical stuff thats been done since 2.5.69, that will be going into .70) |

you know, ive tried vanilla 2.5.68, mm-sources 2.5.68-69, and no matter how many times i compile the kernel, it does not build the printer module. i keep reading how the mm-sources are so great, but is this a known problem? am i the only one who cannot get the beta kernel to build the printer module? |
