genkernel's initramfs - unionfs boot parameters

I'm trying to make a root filesystem with squashfs and unionfs, and I found some code inside /linuxrc from initramfs (generated by genkernel). Does anyone know how to use that kernel's parameters? Or I need to modify the /linuxrc?

I to noticed alot of unionfs related options in the linuxrc found inside of the initramfs image. Is there a guide for these ?, would make my day if there was a mount / as unionfs (/ ro + tmpfs rw) by passing a kernel option.
