I emerge pekwm, but I been unable to run it.
I'm using kdm. looking at the forum and goggle I tried to add this to /usr/share/xsession

Code:

NAME=PEKWM
ICON=pekwm.png
DESC=Light window manager
EXEC=/usr/bin/pekwm
SCRIPT:
exec /usr/bin/pekwm

but when I log in and try it I get an error.
also I call this script pekwm.desktop

You'll need to create a file in
Quote:
/etc/X11/Sessions

and call it pekwm and make it executable with
Code:
chmod +x /etc/X11/Sessions/pekwm

In that file should probably just be the path to the pekwm executable...

That should take care of it under KDM....you'll probably need to restart
xdm to get KDM to re-read the configuration files...

If you're looking for a light system, drop KDM and use something like
qingy (sys-apps/qingy) for logins...it's light and pretty :roll:

But that's a whole other story..

What does /etc/X11/Sessions/pekwm contain ?

As far as I can see it should just be /usr/bin/pekwm..

Failing that, log into your console, create a file ~/.xinitrc and
put /usr/bin/pekwm into that file and then run startx
That should fire up pekwm...

I'm not sure why the session stuff for Pekwm wasn't created
when you installed it...

Creating the xinitrc file work, but still getting no results from /etc/X11/Sessions

this is the session file:
Code:

#file name: pekwm
#contains
/usr/bin/pekwm

is just the path or exec /usr/bin/pekwm?

I'm looking at the file I have for fluxbox and it's just one line
Code:

/usr/bin/fluxbox

Perhaps try exec /usr/bin/pekwm

Is there anything on the Pekwm home page documentation ?

I did check the site and what it said is the same that I already tried.
so far what I'm doing is running from startx.
