So, I am buying parts for a new system and i'm wondering if what I have selected will work well with gentoo. What I have:

M-AUDIO 9900-50752-00 PCI Interface Delta 1010LT 10-In-10-Out PCI Virtual Studio - Retail
DFI LP UT NF680I LT SLI-T2 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i LT SLI ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80562Q6600 - Retail

What most concerns me is the audio. I checked the alsa page on compatability but found it rather confusing...on the alsa page, it said its the ice1712 driver..so when I install gentoo i'll just do "ALSA_CARDS=ice1712" emerge media-sound/alsa-driver

Right?

You would add ALSA_CARDS="ice712" too your /etc/make.conf and then emerge -va media-sound/alsa-driver (making sure that the driver is being installed). Adding it to your make.conf will ensure it always gets emerged when alsa-driver is emerged again because of an upgrade or you upgrade your kernel and have to re-emerge it.
