WTF..

For some reason, net.eth0 and clock (rc scripts) keep trying to modprobe certain things in /dev. net.eth0 seems to try to probe every port it finds in there! I suspect it's related to hotplug, but hotplug doesn't seem to have a problem. If I delete net.eth0 from the runlevel, it won't have a problem.

I'd rather like to have my clock set and have my network automatically brought up; besides, I suspect this is some other form of foul play that could possibly affect other things given the time.
