questo è il mio secondo post in 2 gg del tipo "ma c'è il modo di ... ?"  ...
Vabbè, come da oggetto,
come faccio a far risolvere dalla mia macchina i netbios names (o wins)?

Puoi leggere la seguente guida (controlla solo la parte relativa a Samba), in particolare il Codice 4.4 potrebbe fare al caso tuo.

Mi ero perso che bisogna usare samba,
grazie mille (anche per la guida) !
Altra domanda:
in pratica i nomi che mi serve risolvere sono al di là di una vpn.
Il client è vpnc e uso un'interfaccia di tipo tun (al quale non è associato un indirizzo di bcast).
C'è modo di far andare le richieste attraverso il tunnel?

Prova a smanettare con il parametro remote browse sync.

A parte il secondo problema (far passare il traffico attraverso un'interfaccia tun), ho risolto configurando samba ED impostando il server wins a mano,
altrimenti (con samba su ma senza ip del wins) non risolve niente.
