Hi everyone, I have recently bought my first camcorder, it is a JVC GR-770U. It is firewire capable, but I don't have the cable yet. I also have a video capture device that works well with this camcorder and vcrs in windoze. It is a Plextor PX-AV100U. It is a USB capture device. I have been doing some searching here at the Gentoo boards and I can't find any capture software for my video capture box. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas? All help is deeply appreciated.
Thanks
Todd |

ok, I emerged Kino just fine, but I'm not sure how to make it see my capture device via USB. I'll include the output of lsusb. Code: | localhost todd93 # lsusb
Bus 003 Device 002: ID 03f0:4811 Hewlett-Packard
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 0764:0501 Cyber Power System, Inc.
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 093b:a003 Plextor Corp.
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000 |
my capture device is Device 004
Thanks |

Its been too long now since I've captured - you'll have to search google/forums/kino docs for details.. |

I use the command line tool dvgrab. I'm sure there are better ones, but it seemed simple enough. |

why not buy a usb-to-fire converter, i think you can get it in pc shop near your home.
and i have used kind of screen capture software called ACA Capture Pro, i think it can handle it .

Kino + a firewire cable works wonders. I say go spend the money and buy the firewire cable you will be happy you did. |
