I'm trying to breathe life in a older compaq server that my company just recently retired. It's configured with a onboard SCSI controller and my disks are configured in a Raid 5 config. After banging my head against the console ,for what seemed like hours, wondering why I was getting cdrom errors (I had to add ide=nodma to the installation routine), I'm now not having any luck getting the system to see the Raid array so I can fdisk it. I've tried loading the kernel (gentoo doscsi dodmraid) and also I've tried the dmraid=x option with no luck. When I go into dev/mapper all I see is the control file.

Can you post the output of
It would help us know exactly what you are dealing with.
ps. If it is SCSI, then dmraid is probably not applicable.

Thanks for the reply. I monkeyed around with it and figured out what I was doing wrong. I knew I wouldn't find it under /dev/hda and I was pretty sure it wouldn't be at /dev/sda, but I never thought to look under /dev/ida. There c0d0 waiting for me to pull my head out of my ..... derrière.
