|
|
Hi. I am following the Gentoo Power Management Guide to improve the battery life on my laptop (HP Pavilion dv9097ea). After having successfully configured all the different programs involved, I read the FAQ and ran the following command: Code: | grep capacity /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/info | to check my battery's health. This is what I get: Code: | grep capacity /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/info
design capacity: 6000 mAh
last full capacity: 3072 mAh | The difference between the two values is extremely high. My battery lasts for approximately 1.5 hours. Is there the possibility that my battery is damaged in any way or is this just a false positive??
Thanks in advance

Could be damaged. Most of the cases due to intensive use or heat.

battery quality degrades with use so it is kind of expected. |

no, not in my experiences anyway, unless you have a large amount of uptime and system load then maybe. It could be just a false positive, but you said you only get about 1.5 hours out of it?
its an HP dv9xxx series meaning it has a 17" screen? with an nvidia 7600go card? that could be sucking a lot of juice out of your battery...
With my HP I got the big battery, which could be an option for you, it makes your laptop sit at an angle, but it's REALLY nice after a few days of getting used to it. _________________ The B-Lib (Blog) |

That's exactly my laptop... I contacted HP and they told me 2 use some utility of theirs to check the battery... I'll see if I manage to get one with the warranty.
Maybe the fact I compile quite a bit, run beryl and have the screen at full brightness doesn't help... I'll see how long the battery lasts after setting up power management...
Thanks for your help
