Not that I am interested (I quite like the compile-from source) but time and time again people keep asking for a binary repository

Sabayon have this project called: Project Entropy
it is suppose to be fully compatible with source-based Portage, I was wandering if anyone has tried utilising it in portage (as opose to portage being utilised in Sabayon)

ajez is a Sabayon beta tester, and is only saying what is true.

Conan: Sabayon maybe ~arch and Entropy may currently only have a few packages with obtuse USE flags , but that doesn't mean that the current repository or the completed repository (Entrophy and the Sabayon repositories for it are still late alpha, early beta and under heavy development.)

Naib: To answer your question, I don't believe many straight Gentoo users have tried Entropy yet , as it has no official Gentoo support and because of it being late alpha , heavy beta. The number of Sabayon users that have used or tested binemerge and other tools from Entrophy is still < 25 at present.

I am Gentoo / Sabayon power user. (I installed Sabayon to avoid mass recomiple of gcc3 to gcc4, and found that I liked it)
I still retain my Gentoo roots (having used Gentoo (~amd64) for 1 to 2 years prior to installing Sabayon), and don't see what the rift between Sabayon and Gentoo is about.

When Entropy has a stable release and there exists a stable Sabayon (Yes Sabayon attempts to have a package list of ~arch packages that are stable) package repository for it, the number of users of Entropy whether Gentoo or Sabayon will increase.

Best wishes
Hope this helps

jdhore: I am sorry that you feel that way, it was sad that cvill64 and others left the way they did.

nirax: Actually it is in late alpha, early beta.
Ie Most of the features have been added, but the last few are being added / finalised
and of the features that have been added, those features are being debugged.
