trying to build wireless AP... driver help w/ SMC 2802W

I have not been able to get my SMC 2802 card working in master mode... I get error about timer expired when I try to modprobe prism54. Here is my lspci on it:

I tried building islsm, but I keep getting errors. I have been to the gentoo-wiki page on building a woreless AP.
