Alright. I FINALLY did a backup the other day of my system. Ran a stage4 with these settings:
Code: |
default_exclude_pattern=""
default_exclude_list="
/dev
/lost+found
custom_include_list="
/home/*
/usr/src/linux-`uname -r`"
custom_exclude_list="
/home/user/torrents
/home/user/tmp
/home/user/Documents/Media
"
custom_exclude_pattern="" |
I want to make sure I didn't miss anything special I may need, and also:
I'm using DVD-Rs for the backup. The "full" system backup takes only 1.6G w/ bz2 (which I find kind of odd, actually. Hence the list i posted...), but my tar/bz2 of my Media dir (my music, movies, ect) its ~13G (not supprised there). I'm doing it seperatly for 2 reasons: It will save on a full system backup and it will let me update it when I need to (or, when I want to, since my collection only has 1 real directory that is in danger of of being totally lost...).
Know if it would be a good idea to put a series of backups onto a DVD-R, or if you can? Like, say, 2 or 3 backups onto one DVD before "closing out" the rest of the disk? I've got plenty of DVDs (24 left, before the 3 DVDs of Music...), so I'd like some feedback as this is pretty much my first shot at this kind of thing. _________________ The day Microsoft makes a product that doesn't suck, is the day they make a vacuum cleaner. |
