I've been using a basic ATI Remote Wonder (actually isn't labelled as such, but matches exactly otherwise), which I want to run using the ati_remote module (gentoo-sources 2.6.21-r3). I've been successful with this in the past, except for one thing that has constantly hung over my head: every time I'd press a button the machine would register about five presses.
More recently (after a new install of gentoo), I came across:
http://www.mail-archive.com/linux-input@atrey.karlin.mff.cuni.cz/msg00259.html
Apparently its a patch that would fix this problem once and for all. Unfortunately, though, I'm not sure what even to do with it. Looking through the source file, I'm quite sure it hasn't been implemented, so that would mean I need to patch it myself, which is totally new territory, and something a few internet searches have not made clear for me.
So I guess my question boils down to this - How do I patch this file the way it was meant to be patched?... or even more importantly - Am I thinking about this in the right way? |
