My company does remote support for a couple of our products and some of our customers are still using modems. Right now, we have a stack of modems we use that are slowly starting to die.
We have a Cisco 3825, though, that has been provisioned for multiple dial-out lines, which would be great except that I don't really know anything about modems and nobody here has any idea how to set up a Linux box to act as a dial-out server. Currently we're using a Sun server running Solaris with an indecypherable configuration.
I'm not looking for a walkthrough or anything, but I have no idea where to start with this thing since I've never had to provision a modem in either Linux or Unix.

I've made a little progress. I can now dial out with a modem connected to a local serial port. I'm still not sure how to create all of the entries in /dev for the virtual modems, though. I need 23 devices that can connect to "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 7001".
In Solaris, we use wsxd for the serial port emulation; is there a Linux equivalent?
