|

Hi,
I'm trying to install a Dell al in one printer, A920.
For now the printer works, by using the z600 driver, but I can't get the scanner to work.
Code: | tux ~ # lsusb
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 004 Device 004: ID 413c:5106 Dell Computer Corp.
Bus 004 Device 003: ID 413c:5105 Dell Computer Corp.
Bus 004 Device 002: ID 043d:007a Lexmark International, Inc.
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
|
Code: | tux ~ # sane-find-scanner
# No SCSI scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure that
# you have loaded a SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter.
found USB scanner (vendor=0x413c, product=0x5105) at libusb:004:003
# Your USB scanner was (probably) detected. It may or may not be supported by
# SANE. Try scanimage -L and read the backend's manpage.
# Not checking for parallel port scanners.
# Most Scanners connected to the parallel port or other proprietary ports
# can't be detected by this program.
|
Code: | tux ~ # scanimage -L
No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different,
check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the
sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation
which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).

It seems Sane is not going to work with the dell scanner.
Does anyone know another possible way to get it working?

maartenstorm,
This page http://www.sane-project.org/sane-mfgs.html says you are out of luck.
However, its unlikely its a Dell designed and manufactured item. they have probably just rebadged it and changed its vendor and product IDs.
If thats true, try a driver for a lookalike that is supported by sane if there is one. _________________ Regards,

The A920 is a rebadged Lexmark X1150, and I see that won't be supported either
It seems I can only wait hoping there will be written a driver someday... |

According to the SANE homepage, the CVS of SANE has experimental support for the Lexmark X1150, which may work with the Dell A920.
Unfortunately, I have a Dell A960 and am still SOL. |
