Hi,

I was installing kde4 through layman. The main portage overlay as listed in layman.cfg file is:
overlays : http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/overlays/layman-global.txt
I added kde files :
Code:
* kde                       [Subversion] (source: http://genkdesvn.svn.sourc...)

I also added kde-experimental and enlightenment.

I emerged enough of the kdebase files except for a few which give the following error:
Code:
 emerge -av kdebase

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild     U ] kde-misc/strigi-9999 [0.5.1] USE="clucene dbus qt4 xml -debug -hyperestraier -inotify -log -sqlite3 -xattr -xerces-c%" 0 kB [3]
[ebuild     U ] dev-libs/soprano-9999 [0.9.0.20070511] USE="-debug" 0 kB [3]
[ebuild  NS   ] kde-base/kdelibs-9999.4  USE="cups debug fam spell ssl -acl -avahi -bzip2 -doc -jpeg2k -kdeenablefinal -kerberos -openexr -pie -tiff -zeroconf" 0 kB [3]
[ebuild  N    ] kde-base/kdepimlibs-9999.4  USE="debug ldap -kdeenablefinal -pie -sasl" 0 kB [3]
[ebuild  NS   ] kde-base/kdebase-9999.4  USE="debug opengl ssl -bluetooth -bzip2 -doc -ieee1394 -kdeenablefinal -lm_sensors -network_manager -openexr -pie -samba -usb -xkb" 0 kB [3]

Total: 5 packages (2 upgrades, 1 new, 2 in new slots), Size of downloads: 0 kB
Portage overlays:
 [1] /usr/local/layman/kde-experimental
 [2] /usr/local/layman/enlightenment
 [3] /usr/local/layman/kde
 [4] /usr/local/layman/sunrise

Would you like to merge these packages? [Yes/No]

I am working behind a university firewall and i have added proxy settings in /root/.subversion/servers file, /etc/layman/layman.cfg file and also in /etc/wget/wgetrc. I tried several permutations of proxy settings amongst the 3 files (removing proxy setting from one file and keeping the other two.. etc etc)
Please help if you can figure out whats wrong here !!
TIA
