|
|
I'm running an R9600 Pro on my HTPC. It runs on 2.6.19-gentoo-r5 on an Nforce2 based motherboard. I have agp and nvidia_agp compiled as modules and loaded. However, when I try to start X with the fglrx, it catches a signal 11 and crashes out. The setup works fine with the open-source radeon drivers however. Xorg-server is compiled with VIDEO_CARDS_RADEON and VIDEO_CARDS_FGLRX
The last part of the log file is
Code: | (II) fglrx(0): End of Display1 EDID data --------------------
(WW) fglrx(0): Only one display is connnected,so single mode is enabled
(II) fglrx(0): Primary Controller - CRT on primary DAC

(II) fglrx(0): POWERplay version 3. 1 power state available:
(II) fglrx(0): 1. 398/297MHz @ 50Hz [enable load balancing]

Full xorg.conf - http://www.strudel-hound.com/fglrx/xorg.conf
From the conf file, you can see the two devices I have setup. I just switch between ATI and radeon to test the two drivers.
Full Xorg.0.log from crash - http://www.strudel-hound.com/fglrx/Xorg.0.log.old
Full Xorg.0.log from working opensource driver - http://www.strudel-hound.com/fglrx/Xorg.0.log
If anyone other info is requested, I can post it. Anyone have any ideas on what I should test next to try to solve this? |

Use the open source drivers. AFAIK, the 9600 is no longer officially supported by the binary drivers. It is however fully supported by the OSS drivers.

Bugger. Because the radeon driver seems to use quite a decent amount of CPU while scrolling through the menu in MythTV. Ah well |
