My system won't boot. Can't figure out why. It completely stops after loading the modules in /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.6, or actually probably never loads the last one, because the "[ok]" never appears. If I comment out the last module, it will stop after loading the "new" last one.
After the modules, what's the next step in the boot process?
I don't know what I did before shutting down, that might have broken something... Have tried recompiling kernel without success.
Ideas? |

No?
Any ideas about how to somewhat "reset" the system, then?
I feel so helpless here, back in Windoze. |

Can you boot if you comment out all the modules? _________________ Thomas S. Howard |

... Seems like it was one of the modules that kept it from booting Commented it out, and it worked fine. Which is weird, because I'm pretty sure it wouldn't work when I commented out all the modules.
Now I'm recompiling kernel and ebuilds and stuff. If I am to stumble upon more information about this, I'll return.
For now, I'm happy.
Edit, in answer to the post below (because I don't want to bump): It was the snd_hda_intel module that stopped me from booting.

You can't do that. You have to tell us which module it was. And yes, that's weird. It's like non-intuitive, arbitrary, Windows weird: "It works? But...OK." _________________ Thomas S. Howard |
