|
|
suspend2 works great (on fujitsu p7010 subnotebook) but
after recent updates (sorry I don't know which ones exactly
but probably the switch to userui program for suspend2)
the text progress bar no longer functions.
dmesg reports:
Code: | userspace ui userspace process using invalid interface version. Trying to continue without it.
userspace ui: Failed to contact userspace process. |
I have this line is /etc/hibernate/suspend2.conf:
Code: | ## Specify a userui like this:
ProcSetting userui_program /sbin/suspend2ui_text
|
Anyone know what causes this / a fix? TIA[/post] _________________ .... there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth

I'm having the exactly same problem with "linux-2.6.18-suspend2-r1". I really enjoyed the progress bar in the text mode, but now it's gone. Funny thing is, "/etc/hibernate/suspend2.conf" tries to use the right file at a wrong location.
Code: | ProcSetting userui_program /usr/local/sbin/suspend2ui_text |
The actual file is "/sbin/suspend2ui_text", but that doesn't help either. Any clues?

Glad you posted (sorry for your problem though of course ).
For me, upgrading to the 2.6.21 suspend2 kernel fixed the
problem (I'll put "SOLVED" in the original subject).
I do get a weird message just before the computer shuts
down in hibernation, something like
Code: | switching to alternative shutdown method ... |
anyone know what that is and should I worry (everything seems
to work however)
Plus, the 2.6.21 kernel lets me hibernate without removing
/reinserting my slmodem module. Seems to hibernate faster
too. HURRAY!
All this plus the tickless kernel makes the upgrade very worthwhile. _________________ .... there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth

Indeed. I upgraded the kernel to 2.6.20-suspend2-r6, which was the non-masked latest, and now the progress bar is back. Thanks.
