I have a box that's part of a lab and it's timing out during dhcp. The rest of the lab (identical machines with the same setup) is running just fine. The startup script, /etc/init.d/net.eth0 fails to start the interface and times out during the dhcpc discovery step. It's using dhcpcd-3.0.16-r1. Strangely enough, I can manually start it by bringing the interface up and running dhcpcd on eth0 twice. It times out the first time, but the second, it gets the responses just fine.
The nic is integrated and is using the b44 kernel module. Neither dmesg nor /var/log/message show anything about the interface having problems. The dhcpcd options set in /etc/conf.d/net are just -H. Any ideas would be appreciated as I am out of what to look at next. |

The box is starting to act flaky...I'm suspecting a hardware problem. This dhcp problem is most likely related. |
