|
I have one hard drive with four partitions on it.
/dev/hda1 = Windows XP
/dev/hda5 = Linux ext2 [Boot]
/dev/hda6 = Linux Swap
/dev/hda7 = Linux ext2 [Root]
I follow the install instructions, and type: grub. The grub screen comes up, and I type root (hd0,0), which gives me a notice about a unsupported filesystem and a Hex error code. Then I try root (hd0,1), same thing. Then from 2 - 4, it gives me a no partition error, and then 5-7, it just says Linux partition, but when I do setup (hd0), it says it cannot mount the filesystem.
Help? |

Do you not have a 2nd, 3rd or 4th partition? Looks like you are using an extended partition.
My first attempt to install Gentoo was with an extended partition. I could not get it to work
until I used primary partitions. I'm sure someone will say it can/will work. If you can, I'd try
setting hda2 for /boot etc. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

I used Partition Magic 7.0 in WinXP to create the partitions. That's the way it set them. |
