|

I'm at the networking part of the gui install, after the kernel. I'm not quite sure what eth0 and eth1 are as well as all the other options. Could someone please explain this to me? Also, internet (wired) already works, so is it necessary to configure networking? And the box on the side says that wireless support is unavailable, but I imagine that that can be configured after the install? Sorry. I'm pretty inexperienced with linux and what's really going on behind the scene and I'm trying to learn about computing.
Thanks,
Kevin

If networking is working, then eth0 is your wired network card. Choose that one for now. You can always configure other devices at a later time after you've learned a bit more about linux. DHCP is a network service that is used to automatically assign ip addresses to computers. This is the default setting for the livecd's. If networking works then the livecd has been assigned an ip address by your dhcp server (which is usually your internet router). Just choose dhcp since that works and you won't have to get into network configuration now. The hostname is just the name you want to give your machine.
A bit of googling should find you a basic networking tutorial. Please educate yourself a bit. Perhaps start with this _________________ Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved. Help answer the unanswered
