|
|
Hello all,
I have been trying to emerge java into my gentoo machine, but have not been able to do so .. here is my output:
Code: |
prompt ~ # emerge sun-jdk
Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 1) dev-java/sun-jdk-1.4.2.10-r2 to /
!!! j2sdk-1_4_2_10-linux-i586.bin not found in /usr/portage/distfiles
!!! dev-java/sun-jdk-1.4.2.10-r2 has fetch restriction turned on.
!!! This probably means that this ebuild's files must be downloaded
!!! manually. See the comments in the ebuild for more information.
* Please download j2sdk-1_4_2_10-linux-i586.bin from:
* http://javashoplm.sun.com/ECom/docs/Welcome.jsp?StoreId=22&PartDetailId=j2sdk-1.4.2_10-oth-JPR&SiteId=JSC&TransactionId=noreg
* (SDK 32-bit/64-bit for Windows/Linux/Solaris SPARC 32-bit for Solaris x86, then select download Linux Self-extracting.
* and move it to /usr/portage/distfiles

I think I would prefer to emerge java in rather than maually download and install it.
Any advice??
Thanks |

Yes: follow the instructions you were given.
Download the file from the URL supplied and put it in the location specified, then emerge again. It's called "fetch restriction:" the ebuild requires you to get the file manually when the software license forbids redistribution. _________________ Plants are pithy, brooks tend to babble--I'm content to lie between them.

you don't have to install it, just download and move to distfiles. then run emerge again and all will be well. |
