|

I've compiled the support for framebuffer vesafb-tng.
At boot-time, I would like to set a resolution and a refresh rate.
Well, the handbook isn't very clear to me, there...
I mean, I have a 32-bit machine, so I've chosen vesafb-tng.
Now, the example shows
Is this right for me or should I set "vesafb-tng"?
Secondly, I'd rather to use the second method (without the vga option).
Is this right? I add it after the last option, which, in my case is root=/dev/xxx
Code: |
video=vesafb:mtrr:3,ywrap,1280x1024-32@85
|
Anyway, it doesn't work. I can set whatever I like there, and the system boots correctly without any change.... |

No, it's just a modification of the vesafb code, so it's still called vesafb. See here:
http://dev.gentoo.org/~spock/projects/vesafb-tng/
Is it ignoring all of it? I.e., does it just start in 1024x768x16@60 instead? _________________ Thomas S. Howard |

Ah, thanks for the clarification!
And yes, the kernel was ignoring it .. because 1280x1024 is what I have set for kernel defaults, whereas the refresh rate is ignored ...
Now it is 60, and it flickers (particularly while I'm making menuconfig with that grey background ): I'd like to set 85 (much better).. :\ |

Will it let you change the refresh with the fbset command? I'm not sure how the mode you want translates into fbset-speak, though. _________________ Thomas S. Howard |
