Since I upgraded my motherboard (and kernel) udev is not creating device nodes for my parallel ports. I have turned on support for them in the kernel. I have a multi-io card (it's a print server, so I need multiple parallel ports) and the card worked perfectly with an older 2.6 kernel pre-udev. Support for the multi io card is also on. For some reason none of the parallel ports get device nodes created, either the one on the motherboard or the two on the io card. udev simply ignores them.
Any idea how I can make it create device nodes for them? |

Did you configure your kernel for parallel printer support (Device drivers > Character devices > Parallel printer support), either as builtin or as a module? Parallel port support as such is not enough.
If built as a module, it must be loaded manually, udev doesn't load it. Eitheror add 'lp' to /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.6. The device node(s) should be created automatically, then.
At least, that's how I managed to get the parallel printer working on my print etc. server (one parallel port / printer only). _________________ "Trust me, I know what I'm doing!"
