Ok, up until this point I have been playing Quake3 and CS quite well in gentoo. However, starting a day or two ago, my 3D began to "hiccup", or stutter. I have not changed anything in my system to my knowledge. I have a GeForce4ti 4400, AthlonXP 2200, 256megs DDR330, and a Soyo Dragon kt333 ultra. I am using 2.5.70-mm1 and the latest (masked) Nvidia driver, 4363 i think. Its the strangest thing, now in any 3D game/app it will run ok for a few seconds, then drop to like 1-5 FPS for a second or two then normal, and so on. My glxgears score is around the 2000, which is really low for a GeForce4ti... Write now I am trying to see if using the kernel agp support helps (recompiling). Are there any programs to help me test to see if it is a hardware problem? Or has anyone else had this happen to them? It is like the old hiccups that I had in 2D (which is quite fast now) when I compiled in the 2.4 kernels. Thanks for any help! _________________ aiya, tau tong ah! |

Yup, nvidia is in modules.autoload and I have tried remerging nvidia-kernel/glx and update-opengl nvidia. Nothing has helped yet.. _________________ aiya, tau tong ah! |

I thinking about it, but I have not had any problems with 2.5 before, and this started on 2.5.68mm8 which was working perfectly before. Its very wierd... _________________ aiya, tau tong ah! |

Yes, I have resolved it by going to the latest gaming-sources. Has anyone else experianced 3D problems on 2.5.70mm ? _________________ aiya, tau tong ah! |
