When installing genkernel you get a warning about it not working with reiser4.
I searched through the forums and the docs I could find, but there was no note on it anywhere.
So the question is: Why won't genkernel work with reiser4 and what exactly is the problem? |

Oh, I didn't know that. I had fairly small problems with reiser4 until now, but I only used it for a few weeks. Since I read, that it comes closer to being accepted into the official kernel, I figured, I would give it a try. I kind of like the ideas behind it.
I figured I would try genkernel since I wanted to mount root by UUID. It compiles the kernel fine and everything, but the initrd (blkid) doesn't recognize the UUIDs of the reiser4 partitions.
Well, I guess I will stay with reiserfs until I have some more time experimenting.
Thanks anyway. |
