Hi,
i thought everything was fine with my printer, but it's not...
Sometimes, i print something out, and get something very very bad, like this: HERE.
I had this problem previously with KDE apps, because the Control Center setting pointed to "generic unix lpd print system" instead of CUPS. This is not the case anymore.
I've been trying to print some things from web sites. When there is an image to print, the first page to come out of the printer (either the real first sentences, or the end of the text when i choose to print reverse) is always CREEPY.
I have the latest version of hplip, which is stable even for AMD64:
Code: | # eix hplip
[I] net-print/hplip
Available versions: 1.6.10 1.7.4a-r1
Installed versions: 1.7.4a-r1(00:17:36 06/23/07)(X cups -fax -foomaticdb -parport -ppds qt3 scanner -snmp)
Homepage: http://hplip.sourceforge.net/
Description: HP Linux Imaging and Printing System. Includes net-print/hpijs, scanner drivers and service tools.
|
Example: i select the text + image from here. That's the last one i run into.
Has somebody ever run into this before? I can't find anything relevant here or on google...
Thanks guys...
EDIT: note that if i print it a second time in a row, it prints OK!!!! |

What program(s) are you printing from? Firefox? I've had that happen (the weird smeared page) in firefox a couple times, but it was always a one-time thing that spontaneously resolved itself, usually when I tried to print the same thing again, as with you. _________________ Thomas S. Howard |

I had this with Firefox, but also with KGhostView (i tried to print my page from firefox to a ps file then print it with another program) and, i think, OpenOffice.
This is not occasional... really weird.
It resolves itself by printing the same document again, but this problem is really annoying. |

Well, double-check the CUPS settings. Also, is there some reason you've disabled "foomaticdb" and "ppds" for hplip? _________________ Thomas S. Howard |
