|
|
I've tried various solutions suggested in the forum and what I could find from Google, but so far, no joy. Here's the error when I attempt to start apcupsd:
Code: | # apctest
2007-07-09 18:43:49 apctest 3.14.1 (04 May 2007) gentoo
Checking configuration ...
Attached to driver: usb
sharenet.type = DISABLE
cable.type = USB_CABLE
You are using a USB cable type, so I'm entering USB test mode
mode.type = USB_UPS
Setting up the port ...
apctest FATAL ERROR in linux-usb.c at line 653
Cannot init USB HID report. ERR=Invalid argument
apctest error termination completed

apcupsd was working just fine before the latest emerge -uD world. The kernel is properly configured and the USB cable checks as OK. Can anyone offer a suggestion for how to troubleshoot this?
Many thanks... _________________ Gregory Engel

I'd first check the source file it's referring to, and find out what that function is trying to do. Did you perhaps update the kernel? And, just to be sure, did you update apcupsd? _________________ Thomas S. Howard |

I'm not an expert C programmer, but I did look at the mentioned source file. It wasn't clear from that what the issue was related to. The line reference appears to be just part of the error reporting code. There was no kernel update and, yes, apcupsd was part of the emerge -uD world that ran. _________________ Gregory Engel

OK, so does a downgrade restore function? _________________ Thomas S. Howard |

Apologies, took a while to get back to this.
Yes, a downgrade from apcupsd-3.14.1 to apcupsd-3.14.0 restored apcupsd functionality. I hope someone else has the time to resolve the specific issue with apcupsd-3.14.1.
Thank you. _________________ Gregory Engel
