|
|
hi,
everytime I start a game which uses sound I get the following error message:
Your Open Sound System driver did not let us configure small enough sound fragments.
This may cause delays and other problems in audio playback with certain applications.
err:wave:wodOpen fragment size set failed, size is now 2048
The sound in the game works, but the performance is really bad (I tested it with StarCraft, CC2)
I use the alsa drivers for my cs46xx card (Terratec DMX XFire 1024and I load the snd-pcm-oss module for oss compatibility.
My question are: How can I fix that problem and furthermore how can I manually set the fragmet size?
Thank you in advance

alsa and Wine arn't too compatible atm, they are going to add alsa code in wine but it hasn't been done yet, running OSS should fix your problems, other than that I don't know.
could try the transgaming site (search for the error) and see if that can solve your problem. |

the soundcard drivers seem to be the problem.
Maybe I will buy another Soundcard (SB). |

hmm, that's odd, you shouldn't get more performance from that kernel than the gentoo modified kernel, I'd report this as a bug and leave as much info as you can about it |

The only problem is that the vanilla kernel crashes after some time (the gentoo kernel doesn't) |
