can't get my internet to work

i'm a total n00b at gentoo. can anyone help? i think i need to establish a network. i tried to get ubuntu but as i said i'm a n00b and my current situation is preventing my from even getting ubuntu so i can only use gentoo at the moment. thanks in advance
