last night i booted into slax because i thought my sound card might have died when i installed gentoo and the sound works. i used the same kernel config that i did with slackware but this time i have no sound. |

And what kernel version on Slackware was this? Same as the Gentoo version? What's in the config as far as audio settings go? Oh, and you update any alsa stuff lately? _________________ Thomas S. Howard |

its the same exact kernel with the same patch set. its 2.6.21. the only difference is that i used ragnarok3 instead of 2 or 1. and i just emerged -uND world last night. the modules are loaded, alsaconfig selected them and they are unmuted. /dev/dsp ISNT busy but cat /dev/urandom > /dev/dsp DOESNT make static. also i followed the alsa guide and changed all the alsa stuff to module, because it use to be compiled in |
