I have a small Gentoo server that has 3 drives. 2 x 200GB and 1X60GB. I have configured the 2 large drives as a RAID mirror using mdadm. It works great but after a reboot one of the drives falls out of the mirror and has to be re-added. The two drives are each on there own IDE channel. One on a PCI IDE card and one on the onboard IDE.
I am using a 2.6 kernel. I suspect that somehow the Raid is being initiated before the driver for the IDE PCI card has had a chance to be loaded or initialized. Is there a way to delay the RAID detection until everything else is done? Since the RAID drive is only for file storage it is not critical for booting. I'm still fairly new at managing a linux server so if there are any logs or other info that you would like to see, please give me some directions on how to find them.
If you have other thoughts or suggestions then I would be glad to hear them. |
