Hello everyone,
In my Skim config, under IMEngines->Global Setup->Japanese, I've got anthy, and UIM-anthy (and 3 other things I'm pretty sure I don't need). Other than the icon in my system tray, and the over-automatedness of UIM-anthy (it's in Japanese mode when I log into my account, and I can't find the setting to change this), is there any difference between anthy and UIM-anthy? Which do I want? I'm trying to reduce excess stuff on a system that's already got way too much excess stuff, heheh.
Thanks. |

ok, anthy is a Japanese conversion engine, thing that converts kana to kanji,
uim is a input method for X (cant find better words),
uim-anthy is a module that lets uim to use anthy for input conversion,
so as you see, you need anthy for converting, uim for getting input and uim-anthy for making this all mess work.
However, if you emerge uim-anthy, it will pull all needed dependencies (uim, anthy etc) so dont worry
actually, what i do, i use scim-anthy, same story but scim instead of uim? what is better ? try both.
Hope cleared a bit about it. _________________ /-Everything is made from a dream-/ --Sakurai Kazutoshi |
