I set up a new computer to be my home router the other day. I have dhcp and bind running on it. Everything works fine except that none of the computers know who eachother are. Is there a way to get bind to use the info from dhcpd's lease files? I've been looking around and can't find any info.
Thanks in advance for any help. ![Smile :)](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

You can set things up so the DHCP server will dynamically update BIND whenever it issues a new lease but it's rather complicated (see http://www.ops.ietf.org/dns/dynupd/secure-ddns-howto.html for details). I'm sure I've seen some combined DHCP/DNS servers in portage (which would be easier to configure) but I can't seem to find them now . |
