Of course...it's not like that machine is very old. I've installed Gentoo on much slower.

Kool. I was just wondering because my dvd player won't boot the dvd. The md5 sum is legit and it loads in windows. The other thing is that it will boot other dvds/cds so idk maybe its the player, but i wanted to make sure before I started trouble shooting.

Does it try to boot and stall or is the DVD not recognized?

You won't be able to use the installer, but it's actually exactly the same thing as the manual command line installation, if you consider getting your stage and portage tarballs from the mirrors list anyway. Just boot knoppix, partition your hard drive, mount all drives by making a /mnt/gentoo (or whatever you want to call it) and mounting your partition for / to it, then your boot and any other partitions you want the same way within that folder - then chroot into it just like the handbook describes.

*edit*
I forgot to mention to unpack the stage3 and portage tarballs before chrooting ;)
