|
|
Hello! I'm looking for a good recommendation for a full-screen game launcher for emulated or otherwise games.
Originally I was looking at Game Launcher (Obviously the first thing that came up on my search!) but it is so old it doesn't work anymore...
Anyone have any good ideas/feelings on what is a good program to use? _________________ #define struct union /* A Real space saver! */ |

Not quite.
Point2Play is a front end that looks and feels like it's just another program. I'm looking for a full screen solution similar to what Game Launcher was, or could be if improvements were still made.
The look and feel should be more like that of a game itself... if that makes sense. _________________ #define struct union /* A Real space saver! */ |

Seeing the signature of you, I would suggest writing a game launcher yourself. It doesn't look like much work, and the experience is awarding for sure. If you need a nice little library that doesn't get in your way when displaying graphics on the screen, I can suggest Allegro. |

True. But you know how it is, if there's something available that suits what I need then why put in the effort to write something?
I DID find a good foundation to start with... dev-games/crystalspace has in its included demo packages an application named startme, that is a graphical launcher for their other programs. It's not as advanced as what I want, but it's a place to go from =) _________________ #define struct union /* A Real space saver! */ |

Advancemenu was nice and all, but unfortunately did not meet my needs at all
It's difficult on a dedicated machine and all that...
Eventually I settled on using Wah!cade, found at http://www.anti-particle.com/wahcade.shtml
No ebuild for it, but it works great. Running over xfce4. _________________ #define struct union /* A Real space saver! */ |
